The USA will "lose" in Iraq for the same reason we lost in Vietnam - Charlie wanted it more.
You are mistaken that the military does not care about honor, but in any case where an invader fights a limited police action, the home team has all the advantages.
We tried to tell GW and his idiot friends in 2002 that Iraq was unwinnable, but since he talks to God then he knew better.
There are 2 parts to winning a war:
first is the manpower, weapons, logistics, supplies and expertise;
the second and FAR more important is the WILL to win.
in this case, they have it, we don't.
You see the results.

Actually, you bring up an interesting point. In the revolutionary war they fought for nothing, the true patriots. That brought us freedom, as freedoms are eroding maybe the only way that people become military is the to be induced by pay and benefits, however many of them come from a repressed society, the poor. What if these people came back and joined a freedom force, trained by the U.S. military to be the best fighting military in the world and fought for our freedoms as the insurgence are fighting for theirs. Seems like it would be a very short revolution to me.

The opponents in the war don't fight for honor, they are fighting so they can be in control. Because they have always seen that those in control get the money.
The US military is fighting because the US Government chose to provide the people of the country an option to chose how they want to live, not be told how to live. There is not be a lot of money to be made working for the government at the lower levels, so I doubt that, that is why they are doing it. However there is HONOR in freeing a people from oppression.

i agree with robert p.
the reason the war will not be won is because of politicians putting road blocks in the way of our own soldiers and the politicians will tell them if they are winning or not, as others have noted, just like vietnam. we didn't learn our lesson and the enemy knows this.
the military is high with honor, camaraderie, bravery, friendship, and the will to live and survive. NEVER forget or dishonor them.
dishonor the politicians that limit them from achieving victory by cutting off funds and additional soldiers if you so choose, but don't blame the soldiers for what happens next...
the real question is what does the u.s. people care about honor and how does the u.s. people show their honor?

you're wrong. The majority of "insurgents" who fire at Americans are usually young Iraqi men paid fifty US dollars by Al Queda money-men. Learn some facts before you spout BS, champ.
Even better, spend some time there. The insurgents would either adopt you as a spokesperson, or we'd never have to read the crap you write on here again.

I agree with you completely, everyone else who says this is a dumb question, you are stupid and ignorant just like the rest of the Americans and most people in this world. I believe that the insurgents are fighting for something that the believe and have faith in what they are doing, the US military gets alot of money for fighting in Iraq, they get bonuses as well, I see such disrespect from the US military.

Oh lord you got it all wrong if you dont like it in US dont let the door hit ya in the a ss when you leave. What are you an Iranian or something?? Got news for military dont make alot of money and they all volunterred so they are highly motivated to kill all your insurgents as quickly as possible so they can come home. So a sswipe go take a shot at a soldier in Iraq and see what happens when an underpaid soldier shoot you in the fricking head.

The only reason the US military can lose a war is because the politicians make it impossible to win. Look at Vietnam -- we won every battle, yet left there with our tails between our legs because the media and the politicians made it impossible to win.
The left has learned from this, and is applying it to the Iraq war.
As for "honor"....so, you're saying that someone who straps a bomb around themselves and walks into a market crowded with women and children has "honor"? You're full of crap. They don't come out openly and fight, they blow people up anonymously. That's not "honor", that's cowardice.

Can you get any fact straight?
The vast majority of the enemy fight specifically for pay. And migrate to the warlord with the fattest paycheck.
Most of the IEDs that are emplaced are set by teams that are paid a set fee for every bomb they emplace.

I don't know about that. I mean, you're probably right about the US soldiers quitting if they didn't get paid (most of them anyway), but it's a reality that you have to have money to survive...food, clothing, housing, etc. The soldiers have families to take care of, too. I don't think we are going to win this war, not because of what you say, but because we're fighting an enemy who does not value life. They think it's an honor to blow themselves up in the name of their religion. How do you reason with that? They're not afraid of death. They actually welcome it. You can win with someone like that.
