i cant really answer your question as i dont know, but my cat sleeps like that as well, she will lie on her back with all four paws up in the air!!! i have heard that this is because she feels safe around you and in the surrounding area, and looking at the other answers you have recieved, this sort of comfirms it!, sometimes my cat will roll over and let me scratch her belly, this i know is a sign of total trust, my vet has told me that, as most cats will not let anyone do this - (my cat only lets me do it). Also comfirming the fact that she is safe and comfortable in her surroundings - my cat wont sleep like that when there is someone else in the house! the one thing i do know is that there is no need to worry, you have a happy relaxed loved cat, and the cat knows it :-) enjoy him as best you can, good luck

Your cat is so happy and secure that he feels able to relax completely in his surroundings! Congratulations! You are doing a great job in your care of him!
As most cats sleep in different positions in different circumstances and at different ages you can often tell how they feel! The only time mine are curled up is when they are in a restricted area like a basket or on my lap. The rest of the time they take up as much space as possible. Kittens are most likely to always sleep curled up! An older cat we 'rescued' slept in the classic dog 'down' position (sorry can't think how else to explain it) and would leap up at the slightest noise!

I asked the same thing. My boy cat is about 9 yrs old and is really territorial over me I can be huggin my son or sleeping next to him and here comes sylvester same with my husband we can be in an interment moment and here he comes jumps on the bed with such force I think he thinks he's my husband also. I'm stumped he literally is my shadow.

Congratulations! You have a confident and happy cat that is not afraid to show his belly (most vulnerable area) when he is sleeping. You must be a great owner!

He must really trust you. My cat does this at times and loves a good belly rub while she's relaxing.
