Hi, I'm 17 and recently had a little lump on my adams apple, i've researched on the internet and ive got a swolen lymph node, it's connected with HIV aswell, which worrys me as I had unprotected sex with a girl 3 months ago, my friends are convinced she has nothing but you can't be sure, and I can't put my mind at rest.

I'm worrying non stop, sometimes I get panic attacks, could this cause a swolen lymph node? or depression which im suffering because of the worry that i may be infected with HIV.

Well I'm in need of help from you people, so answer away, thank you all

Man Don't panic! Just go to your doctor, and you can be sure. But, there is much bigger chance it's not neither lymph node, or thyroid, or whatsoever. The most common, especially in that age are ateromes, which are just bunch of fat. It's not dangerous, you can take it out with surgery, but it's not necessary.

Yes it COULD be a swollen lymph node, or it may be something wrong with your thyroid. You need to see a doctor right away. My mom had a lump in her throat and her doctor told us that if we would have waited another day to bring her in, she may have died. And go get checked. That's the only way you will know for sure that you're clean. When you go to the doctor about your throat, tell him EXACTLY about what you're worried about.

I wonder who diagnose the little lump which is swollen as being connected to HIV. I doubt the one time you had unprotected sex has caused a lump in a short period. See your family Dr. who will check it and or send you to a specialist who will determine what the lump is. I think you are overreacting to the fear. Good luck and don't keep worrying about something that is unlikely.

It could just be a muscle that is tight that you have found. To get rid of that you have to free up the muscles in your neck and here's how to do that: Neck Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle behind your neck. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. When your fingers and thumb touch, about two minutes, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds. For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

Do not self diagnose, it can be dangerous unless you know the subtleties of symptoms. Go to a doctor and let him make the diagnosis. You may well be right in what you say but any lump needs proper investigation

if you are worried about STD's you can go to your local health department for free testing...however a knot around your Adam's apple could be something more serious...like Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma...which is a form of cancer....please see a Doctor concerning this and don't wait any longer the sooner you get treatment the better the outcome....and it could be nothing
