You can pray for forgiveness...but there still may be consequences. For example:
The road sign that say "fines doubled for speeding."
Sex before marriage is a sin (sexual sin...fornication.) If you do it or have done it, you can ask for forgiveness and Jesus will forgive you.
However...you may get (or have gotten) pregnant. Or perhaps you now have STD's. Those would be the consequences of what you have done.
Or another example...you rob a store or bank. You ask God to forgive you. He will...however, you still have to face court and jail / prison for your crime.

Sure. You can pray to be spared the consequences, but this does not mean that you WILL be spared the consequences. Christians believe that when we behave in ways that violate our beliefs we can pray for forgiveness and be assures that we will receive it. However, this does not mean that we will be spared the consequences of our behavior.
For instance, if a married man had an affair, he could confess to his wife and to God, pray and receive forgiveness from God and possibly from his wife (Not recommending having an affair). However, if the woman he had the affair with was infected with AIDS, he could not be sure that he would not also be infected.

No, read I believe Galatians chapter 6. God is not mocked, a man reaps what he sows. If you are participating in a particular activity and you know it's not good for you. You will reap the consequences of your action. You can ask God everyday to forgive you of that act, but God only responds if you are sincere. If you say forgive me Lord and keep doing the unholy act intentionally, then God considers it insincere.

I wake up one morning and want a major waffle breakfast with all the trimmings. I pray and pray that the taste I am savouring contained no calories. Sounds ridiculous, doesn't it?
If you do somthing stupid or hurtful, consequenses may or may not come. God is certainly not about bailing you out for your convenience. God will forgive you if you ask but He wants you to try not to do it. God's not a vending machine. You know? He's not a genie that you can use use use for your own gain. Respect Him.

You can pray, but you are still responsible for your actions. It's not like you don't know of the consequences. You have to accept them.
Try just NOT doing whatever it it.

Because of the Blood of Christ God will forgive you of sin if you ask Him. At the same time there are consequences to our actions that we will reap no matter how much we ask for them to be set aside. If you jump off a cliff and ask God for His forgiveness on the way down. He will grant it to you because of the blood of Christ, but you are still going to hit the ground.... Jim

They can try.
It's better to avoid engaging in the activities in the first place.

Can they? Yes.
Sincerity is important to God.
So will it do any good? Depends...

Looking for a loophole for sin? King David seemed to try the same thing. it seems that God usually will not grant that kind of prayer.
