August 2, 1990-February 27, 1991.
The reason the Iraq invaded Kuwait is because that They had just had an 8 year long conflict with the Iranians which left Iraqs economy devastated.
In order to get the wealth back Saddam looked at Kuwait and his greedy self invaded and tried to take over the oil fields as a source of wealth.
The results of the campaign were decisive, Iraq had lost 25,000 troops and 75,000 injured. The allied forces headed by the USA
lost only 378 troops and only 1000 injured.
Desert Storm wasnt the War it was an ariel campaign, the largest the world had ever seen. Desert Storm paved the way for the way for the ground invasion of Iraq and Kuwait.
The war ended with a cease-fire, so when we went in in 2003, that was technically the same war. Just like Korea.
If this is for a project i hope i helped and good luck.

Started Feb 2, 90 as Desert Shield on Jan 17, 91 Became Desert Storm then the fight stop Feb 28, 91 with the official cease fire being declared on April 17, 1991
When you see soldier wearing their uniform if they have a brownish medal on with stars down towards the bottom of their ribbons that is their South West Asia Medal the star Represent the three campaigns, Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Cease Fire.
If you see red and green ribbon with a palm tree that medal was present to US soldier by the Saudi government.
There is a third we received from the Kuwait government its red, green and black
Just a little history lesson for you

They invaded in 1990, we went in in January of 91. It never ended, we have been under a cease fire since we kicked them out of Kuwait, technically we are still in the same war now.

The invasion started on August 2, 1990 and within two days of intense combat, most of the Kuwaiti Armed Forces were either overrun by the Iraqi Republican Guard or escaped to neighboring Saudi Arabia.

Excuse me but I have done my home work on this one.
Iraq never did invade Kuwait. It was a "staged" conflict that was executed by a company that goes by the name of Dyncorp. Look them up on the net. They were hired by Bush Sr. himself. It was about a one month job for Dyncorp and the CEO made about $100,000,000.00 off of the job.

All pretty much because Kuwait stopped paying the annual tributed that Saddam demanded, Saddam figured he'd just take it all.
