It all depends on how much time and effort you put into your studies. The quality and effectiveness of your teacher will make a difference too.
But, in short, your voice will improve with voice lessons. At the very least you will have someone with a trained ear to listen to you and give you feedback on what you are doing. You will also have the opportunity to network with other singers in your teacher's studio through workshops, master classes, and recitals. And you'll be introduced to new music.
Lessons will also allow you to focus your range. A lot of singers have very large ranges, but their voice sits (and sounds) best and most comfortable in a certain range. With a good voice teacher you'll be able to find this range and develop it to a much higher quality and then be able to move out from that range, developing a beautiful tone in everything that you sing.
I highly recommend taking voice lessons if it is something that you are interested in pursuing, or even if it is just for fun for now. Try your local music shop for recommendations on a good teacher for you.

You don't say how old you are. If you are young, your voice will go through major changes as you age. I'm a guy and could actually sing alto in grade school. My dad was a tenor in the church choir. By the time I got in HS I sang tenor my freshman year and ended up singing bass by my senior year! Now I'm a baritone at age 61! Go figure! If you are in school now, take classes like chorus. If you have a decent teacher, he/she will bring out the best in you. Private lessons are OK. But the main thing you will learn is control of your voice. Treat it as a musical instrument. Never sing from the lungs. Use that set of muscles known as the diaphragm right under your rib cage. It controls your breathing. Always sing from the diaphragm. Regardless of who teaches you, if they don't point that out, ask why. Good luck!

I'm not an expert so this is just my opinion, but I have a cousin who took voice lessons and her voice (in my opinion) wasn't that great before or after the lessons. I think to have a really great voice, you have to have been born with the gift to sing. Voice lessons will certainly improve your voice...how much I don't know. But, you could always give it a try and see. You won't know until you try.

I take voice lessons, and wow, it helps a lot!!!! You learn to sing correctly and healthily, and learn where to place your mouth and tongue, and learn how to breathe easily. Your range will improve SO SO much. But, to do all of this you REALLY need a good instructor and teacher. So make sure you look for one that has a major in singing and knows what their doing. It's tons of fun!!!

It will help a lot.... a private teacher can give you help with specific problems you have with your voice/technique that you won't get in a school class or a group class. Also your teacher should really be working the full extent of your range, so If you want a larger range, definatly go for it.

It depends on how good ur voice actually is and how good the teacher teaches u. If she sucks at teaching, i would quit lessons right now before wasting good money. But it takes time, she'll proalby make u go "la la la la la la" or "Mi mi mi mimi" or "So so so so" and then the progress will go from there.
