I woke up a few nights back with swollen eyelids. They began to itch, but not intensley. It was more like the lids itched and it was vague yet ongoing.
Then lastnight I was having sex w/ my bf. We have slept in the same bed for 4 months. But suddenly I started sneezing like crazy, my eyes got itchier/puffier instantly, my nose was runny, and my throat was itchy. IT WAS HELL. I left his room very quickly and went to another room. The symptoms cleared after an hour. I woke up in the morning and my eyes had a few styes in them and the lids were puffy and itchy. WHAT IS GOING ON?? Do I need to go to the ER? Or will this clear? I have no insurance. I have NEVER been a person w/allergies. I am over 20 yrs. old so u would think I would know if there was an allergin. Nothing I ate has been wierd. Does anyone have a clue??

It sounds like you have an allergy to something. Try and think about any new products you have been using. New detergent or new bedding on your bed? Are you or your BF using any new products - new shampoos, hair products, soaps, makeup, whatever?
I would take everything off your bed and wash it and see if that helps.
BTW, allergies often appear for the first time or worsen as you get older. I didn't develop allergies to anything until my 20's.

I can certainly understand your problem. I was in my teens when I first started having allergic reactions and it turned out to be an allergy to grass pollen. What caused it to hit me at that time was a move my family made from San Diego, CA to central Oregon where grass pollen levels are nearly 10 times higher.
This is just an example to show that many such allergies develop from exposure to something new. It could be a change in your lifestyle, such as a cologne that has an ingredient you may be allergic to, or that of your partner. If you really want to find out if it's alergy related than go see a doctor about having an alergin test run. Essentially, they place a lot of little pills on your arms and see what happens. This could provide you with a clue as to your problem.

I know two people that get the same thing. When she sleeps at his house, both of their eyelids swell up, itch and get red. It grosses me out. They don't what causes it. It would make me want to start a bonfire with the mattresses.
They are both over 40 y/o.
Their problem cleared up but they used neosporin. I'd wash the sheets more often and possibly vacuum under and around the mattress.

It sounds like a reaction to laundry detergent or soap or somthing along those lines. I had a friend whose son got the same problem and even got a stye in his eye...he was allergic to the feathers in his pillow.

Allergies are caused by an over active immune system. some possible causes is the soap your bf uses to clean his sheets.. insure he and you use the same soaps... also check for other allergens such as pet hair or body lotions etc.

try taking an OTC allergy medication to start and see if this clears the symptoms...perhaps if it is this severe you may try Benadryl. If it clears then you know it is an allergy. Perhaps it is something in the boyfriends linens that you are allergic to. You know i have to use dye free and perfume free detergent for my wash, perhaps you might as well. It could be many things dear.

It definaltly sounds like you're having an allergic reaction to something. Have you changed laundry soaps??? If you had washed your sheets in a soap that irritates you I could see why your eyes would be doing that. Try taking some benedyl and see if that helps.
