My cat has been limping around. He hurt his arm somewhere outside. I'm really worried about him. He doesn't have a vet to go to because I dont have the money for it. What should I do? How can I find out if it's broken or not?
(I'm desparate!!) Please help!

With a broken leg, there is really no real way to tell if it is broken, especially for a fracture. One of the things that I learned while studying pre-vet and working in a vet hospital was to set the animal on your lap. Then, if the animal will allow you VERY GENTLY bent the leg and etc where the joints are located. If the animal yells, that is a good indication that something is wrong. Plus, you can tell if there is something seriously wrong if the cat changes eating and drinking habits after the incident. Keep a close eye on the little one and see how he acts in 48 hours. It is very important though that you seek professional help. There are programs out there such as animal rescue and etc that work with lower income individuals to help in paying for medical bills. You can call up a few vets in your area and explain your case and see what they suggest. Most vets are in the business to help the animals not just get money from pet owners. In fact, the vet hospital that I used to work for had an "extra expense fund" for people that were unable to pay bills because of "economic" reasons. Things happen to the best of us - so there is always soemone out there that will assist you. For now, keep a close eye on him and keep him warm - you don't want him to get too cold if he does have a broken leg. Good Luck!

You need to get him in to the vet for an x-ray immediately. There's no way around it. He's in pain and letting him limp around already hurt is going to do more damage.

Most vets will allow you to use a payment plan. They never want to turn someone away with a hurt or sick pet. Use an emergency credit card if you have one. Borrow some money from a friend or family member. If you're that desperate then go sell some old cds or dvds to one of those cd exchange stores, pawn something, take out a cash advance, anything. If you thought you broke your arm and needed to go to the ER I'm sure you'd find a way to get some cash for that.

If he has bin outdoors i think of that he have been given stung with the aid of a bee or maybe even a ant i think of you're able to easily carry his paw for a on a similar time as and experience for any little bumps. If thats no longer the case then he might have some thing in his paw maybe a splash thorwn or saomthing.

Ok you don't have the money. Get in a car, drive to your local no-kill shelter and frankly, beg. They must have technicians there that can tell you. DO NOT let this cat continue to go around without getting him checked out. Do not try to check him out yourself because it there are splinters of bone around you would potentially cause more damage.
If it is broken and it does not get set correctly, he could limp for the rest of its life ...Good luck!

You really need to take your cat to the vet. All pets need to see a vet on a regular basis. If you can not afford to take your cat to a vet then you should find your cat a good home that will take him to the vet

If you think it is broken feel for any swelling.
Bandage it up with a piece of wood to keep it still
and take it to the vets as soon as possible.

Ask your vet if they have a payment plan. An x-ray might not cost as much as you think. Dental ones are only around 20$ - it probably won't be more than that.

Shame on you for having a pet and no vet. Why do people insist on having children and pets even though the KNOW they can't take care of them properly?

Get it to the vet- make a payment scheduled with the office.
