Both my grandfathers served in the war but neither was in the RAF. My dad's father was stationed in Gibraltar as part of the artillery, my mum's father was in the navy.
I would contact the RAFA for info on who served in the RAF at that time. Good luck with this search.

my grandad was in the raf in ww2.. not sure were though, i know it was japan at some point. I have his flight bag somewhere, you've ignited my curiosity, will have to try and find out more..

Not that I am aware of..I believe I have an uncle who did but no family around to make sure. sorry
