I'm LDS or "Mormon" and that's a link from the official church website that goes over our basic beliefs, probably a good place to start for your research.
Chances are there are LDS kids in your school too that you can ask. Um, I don't think there's any foods we can't eat, but we do have a health/spiritual code that encourages eating lots of grains and healthy things and does ask that we abstain from harmful drugs, alcohol, tobacco products, coffee and black tea.
Hope that helps - good luck on your project.
edit -- yikes folks, where are you getting your info? I have been through all the temple ceremonies, and I have never been in one naked with a towel on my head...seriously - keep this in mind while you're doing your research okay - there's a lot of what we call "anti" stuff floating around out there that is just utterly twisted or false.

Please do not fall for Mormonism. They tell you they are Christians and they believe in the same things but this IS NOT TRUE by any means. I have researched this thoroughly, talked to Mormons and have converted several to Christianity after they realize the false religion they are believing.
They believe that Jesus and the Devil are brothers, the believe you are married in heaven (celestial marriages) when in the Bible Jesus completely says this is not so. I asked them why they believe something that contradicts the Bible and they say 'oh we don't believe that part' so they pick and choose which verses they want to use to suit their needs. They also think there are 3 levels of heaven and if you are a good Mormon you go to the top, and eventually get a planet. There is also a 'heavenly father' and mother that have spirit babies that come to earth to inhabit bodies ~ this is why they have so many kids.
The founder, Joseph Smith was supposedly praying one day and asked God which religioin he should be and God said none. He claimed to have found golden plates with writing that only he could translate (imagine that) and he created the several books of Mormon about made up characters with places that do not even exist to this day! You read the Bible and you see a place, you can get on a plane and visit it today! In the book of Mormon, they are ' no longer existing' yea, sure, all of them?
They have a good sense of family, society, work ethic, they are polite etc. but in the end the ONLY thing that gets you into heaven IS NOT the fact that you are Mormon (as they believe) BUT the truth is that you have to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This means that you must fall on your knees, cry out to Jesus and admit that you are a sinner, repent from your life of sin and believe that Jesus is Lord. That is it. Nothing else. It's in the Bible and it's the longest standing message that God delivered to us through the Bible.
Mormons follow their book, and only reference the bible for occasional verses that they 'created' their religion around. Mind you, Joseph Smith had this 'revelation' 1800 years AFTER the Bible was written. Why don't people see how ridiculous this is? They believe anything, and are sadly led astray by this false prophet Joseph Smith.

"I also know that they think you will burn in "hell" if you drink caffeine yet they own Pepsi Co." This is a new one and not true. Normally, people think that the LDS owned Coke. The LDS have never owned Pepsi. You can ask the Pepsi company.
They have a ceremony where they strip naked and put a towel over their head, then someone puts oil on them.
Hahaha. These get better and better. The only place you are anywhere near naked in the temple is in the bathroom.

Mormonism is a term used to describe religious, ideological, and cultural aspects of the various denominations of the Latter Day Saint movement. The term Mormonism is often used to describe the belief systems of those who believe in the Book of Mormon, a sacred text which Mormons believe was translated by Joseph Smith, Jr. in 1829 from golden plates, described as the "sacred" writings of a group of the inhabitants of parts of America from approximately 600 BC to 420 AD. In 1830 Smith published the Book of Mormon and "restored" the Church of Christ, and the faithful were known amongst themselves as Latter Day Saints.
Outside the church, church members have come to be called Mormons because of their belief in the Book of Mormon as scripture, alongside the Bible. As the result of a revelation in 1838, the name to the Church was officially stated as "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints".[1] After the death of Joseph Smith, a succession crisis ensued and the church membership was divided among various sects. The largest group accepted Brigham Young as the new prophet-president of the church and followed him West to the Salt Lake Valley in the current state of Utah. However, there was a sizable faction that did not accept Brigham Young's claim to leadership and remained in the Midwest. The Community of Christ is the largest church that emerged from the Latter Day Saints who did not follow Brigham Young and it also claims to be the original church founded by Joseph Smith, Jr. Nevertheless, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints remains by far the largest and most prominent group called 'Mormon'.
After The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints abandoned the practice of plural marriage, more sects emerged in support of the practice usually in the form of polygamy, or more specifically, polygyny. Mormonism is generally used to describe the main body of the Utah sect exclusively, mainly due to its prominence amongst Latter Day Saint denominations, but the practice of plural marriage is still heavily associated with Mormonism despite the church's efforts to distance itself and the term from polygamy. Other sects embrace or accept the term Mormonism, including the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, other Mormon fundamentalist organizations, Reform Mormonism, and cultural Mormons.
Most adherents of Mormonism may be called Latter Day Saints (or the hyphenated Latter-day Saints in reference to the largest denomination).[1] Other generally acceptable terms include LDS, Saints, and Mormons. A minority of adherents object to the terms Mormon and Mormonism, since these are terms coined by outsiders to label members of the Church.

I live in Salt Lake City, Utah. Capitol of the Mormons. Though I myself am not LDS I know they eat a lot of jello, don't know why. I also know that they think you will burn in "hell" if you drink caffeine yet they own Pepsi Co. They also think they are better than every other religion on the planet. I'm sorry you got stuck with them on your report. Good luck with it.
