Difficulty: Easy

Dogs were once bred to perform specific jobs. Because they aren't required to do these jobs now, they need an outlet for their energy, relief from boredom and time to display particular characteristics of their breed. That's why a walk is as essential to a dog's life as food and shelter.

Instructions

STEP 1: Make sure your dog is trained for basic obedience commands, such as 'Heel,' so that you can keep him under control at all times.

STEP 2: Resist the urge to let your dog run wild and free on public property'keep him safe by putting him on a leash. If you're concerned about restricting him too much and your dog is well-trained, consider purchasing a retractable leash.

STEP 3: Take your dog on a 1-hour walk or two 30-minute walks each day, even if you're home for part of the day and spend lots of time with him.

STEP 4: Adjust the walking distance and pace to the age and health of your dog.

STEP 5: Allow your dog time to stop and smell the ground. Dogs gather information this way'they can determine what animals have passed and what changes have occurred since the last walk.

STEP 6: Let your dog greet people and other dogs appropriately while on the walk. This will help develop him social skills.

STEP 7: Carry a pooper-scooper or small plastic bags to clean up after your dog as you go.

Tips & Warnings

A walk is a show of positive reinforcement from you and gives your dog mental stimulation and exercise. Walking your dog regularly also helps alleviate inappropriate behaviors such as barking, chewing or digging.

Avoid turning the walk into an obedience training session. It's essential for your dog to have fun.
I
f your dog starts to fight with another dog, both owners should drop their leashes immediately and try to verbally command their dogs to stop. Dog fights often result in minor injuries if the dogs are left alone.

Vary your walks to allow your dog to explore new terrain.

Reduce the time and distance of the walk in extremely hot or cold weather, especially if your dog is old or in poor health.

1.Find the dog
2. make sure it has a collar
3. get a LEASH
4. clip the leash to the silver loop on the dog's collar
5. find a small bag (a grocery bag works great) this bag is for putting dog poop in.
6. bring the dog outside
7. take the bag with you
8. start walking the dog wherever you desire
9. when it poops, pick up the poop with a paper towel (or anything else you might have handy) and put it in the bag.
10. when you get home, throw away the bag, unclip the leash, and you're done!

Put a leash on it and go outside holding your end of the leash. Follow the dog where it 'wants' to go, but don't let it go in places it shouldn't ... and after it has 'done it's thing' (and you've cleaned up the 'hard stuff' in a plastic bag) and had some exercise, you take it back to where you started from, and make sure it has water because it's probably thirsty after its walk.

training them first-
get a slip knot lead, like the ones at animal shelters & vets-
and put it high on the neck, at the base of the dog's skull, so your dog won't pull you. and start walking, keep the leash loose until he/she starts to pull, then tug and pull the dog back to your side(gently, of course!) and be sure to say no when he pulls, and he'll start to associate pulling you as being something bad.

never use a harness for walks, you'll end up being pulled everywhere! D:

You need somebody to show you, walking the dog. If you didn't break the needle, and that you can still sew. This is from an old rock n roll song.
