A U.S. helicopter was shot down and crashed north of Baghdad on Wednesday, the military said after initially stating that the chopper made a "hard landing." All aboard were safely evacuated by a second helicopter and all had brown stains on the rear of their uniforms.
At least seven U.S. helicopters have crashed or been forced down under hostile fire since Jan. 20. Military officials have said that militants are increasingly targeting helicopters amid the buildup of U.S. troops in Baghdad, firing simultaneously with an assortment of weapons from different directions. The Army and Marines admit the insurgents are amazing. They ( Insurgents) never give up. The Iraq war may end up like another Vietnam.

I expect that a lot of ignorant people will put the blame on Iran. But what they do not know is the fact that all of these downed American helicopters were shot down in Sunni areas. These helicopters were shot down by the Sunni insurgents. The Sunnis were using weapons supplied by the Saudis. The Bush administration always put the blame on the Iranians for supplying deadly IED's to the Shias, yet keep very quiet about the Saudis. Is this the way Bush is protecting the lives of American troops?.

It's always the same story,, We could wipe Iraq off the map if we had to, but guerrilla warfare can't be stopped w/o massive casualties. There's nothing amazing about these idiots.

it's absolutely crazy that US forces take casualties in a war... I have to wonder... when did Americans become so soft that when we still have more college students die from drinking related causes than Americans dying in combat, they still want to retreat and lick their wounds and cry about the injustice.

1) The terrorists have new weapons
2) We've already killed all the dumb ones
3) They have teachers who cut their teeth on chopper killing fighting MI-24 Hind assault helicopters in Afghanistan
4) Sometimes you get lucky and hit a soft spot on the chopper you are shooting at
5) Sometimes you get un-lucky and get shot in a soft spot
