the resurrection, took place not on the seventh day but on the eighth, that is, the first day of the Jewish week, which corresponds to our Sunday." After the Sabbath, and towards dawn on the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala and the other Mary went to visit the sepulchre." (Matthew 28:1. Cf also Mark 16:1-2; Luke 24:1; John 20:1).
The first day of the week therefore assumed a very special significance for the new dispensation, for the followers of Christ. They saw in the resurrection, greater reason to keep the first day if the week holy than the reason for keeping the seventh day holy. The first day of the Jewish week thus became the new, 'Lord's day' of the Christians. (Apoc. 1:10).
That is why, assemblies were held in the early Church were held on the first day of the week (our Sunday). "On the first day of the week we met to break bread." (Acts 20:7). "Every first day of the week, each of you must put aside what he can afford, so that collections need not be made after I have come." (1 Cor. 16:2).
God Bless You

Pastor Billy says: if Sunday is solar worship than SATURN-day is planet Saturn worship. For Christians neither is true but everyone, at least in the English language world use a celestial calendar for the weekdays. Christians see the first day of the week or what an early Christian Barnabas called "the 8th day" a day of God's new creation with his resurrection. The new creation is of course his great creation because it rejoins man to his creator with redemption. The simple fact is Christians have accepted Jesus Christ as the messiah hence we no longer look toward the perfection of first covenant sabbath as it has already been perfected in Jesus Christ coming. Sunday is correctly known as the "Lord's day" which in we keep all the moral aspects of the first covenant sabbath but do away with the ceremonial aspects because the messiah has come to fulfill it in his death, burial and resurrection.
and so returning to your question there is no confusion because to Christians Sunday is correct spiritual sabbath day.
The biblical sabbath you refer to is applicable to the Torah (Penetuch) or first convenant sabbath still kept by Pharisetical Jews today still waiting for it's perfection. If you are Jewish keep it! If not and claim to be Christian well understand the acceptance of Messiah Jesus what that entails and how we now look toward the first day and God's greatest creation.
I've seen this argument many times made by 7th day Adventists who claim to be Christians but are not and frankly my answer to them is.....if the day is most important to you than reject Jesus accept Judaism and practice it most correctly as it was given not to Christians but to followers of Judaism who still await the Messiah's first coming. First covenant sabbath is a celebration of God's first creation, the earth, the universe but can never represent God's new creation in the resurrection of our savior.
PS. drop the solar worship story it just doesn't wash anymore. You know fully well Christians do not worship the celestial body called the sun.

You're right. Remembering the sabbath day and keeping it holy is still a commandment and just as vital.
But... the reason Christians observe the "sabbath day" on Sunday because Christ rose from the dead on a Sunday we call Easter. I guess the word sabbath is used as "Holy day" and not literal.

Its a shame, how many people are "ignorant". I say this not meaning to offend anyone. But when I read the answers to your question. I have to shake my head.
One person said, Jesus said, "Sabbath was made for man", as long as you work 6 days and rest on the 7th its ok.
What? Where does it say that in the bible? It doesn't. People keep ADDING TO GOD'S WORDS. He said,
EXODUS 20:8Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
God Blessed the 7th day, from Creation. If you change that day, you are not observing the 7th day. It started from Creation.
Observing the Sabbath is a Blessed thing. Every Sabbath day you remember you were Created by the God you worship. WHICH GOD DO YOU FOLLOW ON SUNDAY?
Why did God create the Sabbath Day?
Ezekiel 20:12 I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the Lord that sanctify them.
Ezekiel 20:20 Hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the Lord your God.
Exodus 31:13 Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the Lord that doth sanctify you.

"The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath".
means God made the Sabbath and man cannot change it. If you falsly believe that man was made for the Sabbath then man is over the Sabbath and the Sabbath needs man and man can change the Sabbath.
That is what that verse means.
If you can change the Sabbath then you can kill, steal, swear, curse and everything else. We can change those commandments too.
Not.
The Sabbath is Gods Rest and RELATIONSHIP with His created world. It was His first full day with Adam and Eve!!!!!! Without that relationship you are dead.
Mat 7:23Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never KNEW you. Away from me, you evildoers!'

The Sabbath or Shabbat is and has continually been the seventh day. the reality is that it became replaced by Rome because of antisemitism, and as a frame of mind to keeping apart Christianity from it really is Jewish roots. As to no longer being below the regulation, at the same time as it really is genuine, the seventh day became blessed by God interior the second one financial ruin of Genesis, earlier the regulation became ever common. i imagine as Christians we ought to continually bear in thoughts the Sabbath. Sunday is an afternoon that we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus. notwithstanding it really is needed to comprehend that it does no longer make any distinction on the topic of salvation even if you save it or do not, because "salvation is the present of God, no longer of works", so no you'll boast as notwithstanding preserving any regulation helped to attain their salvation. The bible states,"So enable no one decide you in foodstuff or in drink, or on the topic of a pageant or a clean moon or sabbaths, that are a shadow of issues to come back, notwithstanding the substance is of Christ." it really is needed to observe that in the a million,000 year reign of Christ on earth, The temple, in Jerusalem, will in effortless words be open on the Sabbath day and on the hot moon.. if you're already kept by the grace of God and favor to save the Sabbath it really is a fine looking element, because it really is an afternoon blessed by God. nevertheless, observe that there are some who will continually be "non secular Pharisees" about it and declare that you sin in case you do not save it ,others in case you do save it. so that you'll't pay interest to human beings like that. the acceptable coverage is to do regardless of you do to the distinction of God with thanksgiving. not at all feeling compelled as by regulation. For we were set loose from the regulation of sin and death by the shed blood of Jesus Christ. we may be able to do no longer some thing to characteristic to our salvation. in case you comprehend that,. then you could fairly earnings from the blessing of Sabbath. Gal 2 16 understanding that a guy isn't justified by the works of the regulation yet by faith in Jesus Christ, even we've believed in Christ Jesus, that we'd be justified by faith in Christ and not at all by the works of the regulation; for by the works of the regulation no flesh will be justified. wish this helps.

Isn't it also interesting that the 4th commandment starts with the word Remember, as if at some time in the future it might be forgotten.

There is no confusion. Jesus is Lord. He rose on Sunday. Before Jesus' suffering and death everything was within 7 days. Jesus ushers us into the eternal 8th day. The day of rest. Eternity with Jesus isn't just within the 7 day week.
