Most of us would go farther into debt than we can afford just by going to a doctor.
What kind of a"community" would allow this?
Working people are worse off than not..but anyone denied a screening for life threating conditions is in-human, but at the price these things are at...most of us are not able to even consider.

I one thousand percent agree with you!
I've been working full time since the age of 17, and lets just say I'm over 50 now! I have an HMO, cause it's more affordable than traditional insurance. Now, I just found out they want to charge $500.00 for an 'out pt' procedure. things like endoscopy's, or even colonoscopys both encouraged and recognized as reducing cancer rates, cause they can spot problems before they start. Now, with an HMO, the 'wise guys' have decided to call if 'surgery' instead of a procedure, so they can charge more. so, you know what' going to happen???? No one will have it done! At least people that have an HMO cause they are concerned over finances! What a crock!!
I know people on welfare, and state programs will be able to get them. So, I guess the middle class workers are really being phased out, cause they won't be able to afford preventative medicine.
I'm mad and upset over this to. Hope something happens to health care in this nation, but not universal or socialized like Canada's-it has it's problems too.

Most of us are willing to go into debt for our car, but not our health. I think the responsibility lies with both the community and individual. Also, many localities have public hospitals. Also, many churches are willing to help. I strongly urge anyone who needs help to go down every avenue available to them. You have nothing if you do not have your health. Plus, on a brighter note, people are working to make health care more accessible for everyone. But in the meantime, the responsibility lies with the individual. And there is always something that can be done and someone willing to help if you look hard enough.
