By the way, this is the wrong section. I checked the News/Media catagory in the box selection, but yahoo put it here. Sorry about that. Not my choice.

Because researching real news stories is much harder than just waiting for Britney Spears to do something stupid.

Because we live in a world that is 90% enamored with the faults and problems of other people.

Why some one shaving their head or tragically dying is significant enough to make the headline news for 1 week plus is simply insane.

I am saddened by the way things are going and where the so call leaders are taking us..

For all our great achievements we really have gone nowhere when it comes to way we belittle and flock to watch the problems and imperfections of others trials and tribulations.

Because most of the people watching it are too stupid and or ignorant to understand actual politics or current events presented as news. Oh yeah, and also because the people serving it up don't want the dummies to know what's going on anyway. News and sports are distractions for the masses.

The media is a business and has to put it's own unique spin on things to get ratings.

It has to attract viewers and some "news" is just too boring or not "applicable" to people.

Because news programs are beholden to the same thing all TV shows are. Ratings. Ratings=more advertisement dollars. If they show boring news with facts and figures most Americans wouldn't watch.

A lot of times the station is using the news to plug its other shows and also to advertise for its sponsors (including political groups).

Try listening to more independent news stations like Democracy Now. They give more news stories that you don't hear on the major news stations but are no less important.

there is very little news on anymore all they try to do is scare you into watching with those promos and then when something does happen they blow it way out of proportion like this winter they are calling it the "Blizzard of 07" it usually snows like this every winter we just had two mild winters in a row...... god i hate watching the news

To keep us in the dark about the true matters at hand. They want to fill peoples brains with Britney shaving her head and the death of famous crack head so we won't think about the things that truly matter. I you want real news DON'T GO ON CNN. that's my oppignion of course.
