Suppose that there exists One Supreme Being. You can call this being YHWH, Allah, God, Brahma, whatever you like. Suppose that this one being exists. Now, suppose they revealed themselves to you and declared themselves the Supreme Being, Creator of All, etc.

My question: How would you know if they were? What would they have to do to "prove" it to you? Walk on water? Teleport? Tell you the most intimate details of your life that no one else but you and this being could possibly know?

This question, I think, is relevant to everyone. It's not a "Christian" or "Muslim" or anything like that, question. It's a personal question about how you see your own beliefs.

BTW, my question is motivated in part by Arthur C. Clarke's quote, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." Though it pertains to magic, it can also pertain IMO to any supernatural phenomena.

Rainy and Soychuleta (and others): If a being appeared to you and controlled your mind through an advanced technology, would that make that being Supreme?

Soychuleta: I don't think Clarke's comment is irrelevant. The implication of your statement is that we are somehow immune to being "fooled." I don't think that's true at all. We are certainly more technologically advanced than before, but that doesn't mean that even MORE advanced technology cannot fool us. (see my above detail for an example).

I wouldn't know if they were, but I suppose I would decide by how they acted. If they hated and condemned others, and was intolerant, I wouldn't believe them.

Universal creation and universal support.

Meaning: This being would have to personally demonstrate the creation of a universe AND allow me to enter it at will and maintain my sense of self despite the differences in the laws of physics between the two, as well as arrange an end to illness and war on the Earth and fix the environment.

Any being can do that, compared against modern technology, is close enough for me to a deity.

I still wouldn't worship it, but I'd have tons of questions to ask and would hope to establish a positive relationship with it.

You would need no proof, because the meer site of the Supreme being would leave you with the want to worship immediately. We are created to worship Him and him alone, so the question is not what you would need for proof, but what would you need to prove your worthiness.
BTW, A.C. Clarke's quote is outdates and would not apply to this question because Magic is explainable, the mysteries of God are to vast for any mind to comprehend.
God bless and continue on your journey.

they would have to blow my mind because my human brain is not capable of understanding the trancendent. It would have to remove me from my physical shell. I cannot understand or see what cannot be described using human terms such as hot cold black white good evil light dark. I would have to be taken beyond linear time itself. TO the timeless or immortal plane or universe. Outside of this one.Or possible inside of this one. Outside and inside are just more terms that I am capable of understanding.

The supreme being is neutral and already presenting itself to us all the time. I already believe.

I believe there are many beings superior to me, but I am working to make myself better and better everyday.

if it really is the one true "god" then "he" wouldn't have to prove it I would believe cause "he" made me believe in "him"
