also it is the only world televised race that no other race can be broadcast at the same time. also back in the 60's i believe it was the national racing organization signed a deal with FIA and in the deal which was written up by the france family it states on the day of the daytona 500 no other auto race is allowed to be televised (unless it is on espn classic or speed channel and also an old race). plus look at the world racing schedule and not much goes on before the 500 and not much happens after homestead. nascar only goes 2 months ou of 12 where there is no race at all. december and january. other than that there is at least one nascar race in each month and almost always 3 or more.

Its the first race of the year and their is so much preparation that goes into it and all the testing and practices, it goes on for weeks even months. Another reason is that it has alot of history and its such a huge track which makes for some of the best racing, and they have the Shootout, the Duels, qualifying, practices, and then the RACE.. It's just a huge event and has the most prize money and etc.

Because Daytona was the very beginnings of NASCAR....in the early days it was even on the Daytona Beaches....it has MORE history than anywhere else and therefore more prestige. It also gets lots of attention because it is the very first race and so much world publicity is given to it...... There's not a driver alive that wouldn't trade 2-3 wins for just one Daytona trophy.

Because it is the super bowl of nascar. After the budshoot outs, and 125's to see where you place for the Daytona. Daytona is a jewel of nascar this win will stay with you forever, unlike the other tracks those are good, but Daytona... plus it started there on the beach....

Only because it is the first race, and is on a large track, making it easier to drive. The hype is all in the marketing!
