A "personal gift" means a gift that is personal, something that was selected specifically for this person, that appeals to their particular interests and likes.
It is the opposite of a generic gift.

a personal gift is something that you receive or give that has been selected with just that person in mind. something that you or the receipient would find tremendously endearing because alot of effort goes into finding that "perfect for that person" gift and usually centers around something a person likes very much.
