I'm trying to find curtains for my dining area. My livng room is called a "great room" and the dining area is in another room but the two are not seraprated by a wall. My carpet is a very light, but now white carpet, more of a light tan. My couches are a dark olive green and the furniture is a light rustic brown. Now, I need to find curtains what color would look good? Patterns or solids are good. Any good ideas appriciated!!!!!!!

I like stripes and florals...at least for the valances and then to use the same material for accent pillows and maybe a table cloth or runner. That way it just kind of blends everything together, but not over-kill:) With your olive and browns, it should be fairly easy to find something, there are alot of those colors out there now. Anything will go with your carpeting, so I wouldn't worry about it. Maybe look for some solid colored drapes in your olive color, and then fabric with the olive, brown and gold tones, and even some dark blue or burgandy in it, for your valances & accent pieces. Try to pick up a color out of your livingroom since it is all open. If you have a Penney's catalog, look in it~they carry some nice, quality draperies and you could check domestications.com they have a lot too. If you sew, look for fabric you like at your local fabric store, or on eBay (They have a ton~cheap) and you can make the valances and pillows yourself and save a lot of money..that's what I've done in the past~
Good Luck!!

You didn't say what color/colors your walls are. If your walls are darker than the color of the carpet, I would go with drapes the same color as the carpet. If the walls are the near the same color as the carpet, go with matching the drapes to the olive green couches. Carry the color scheme through both rooms.

I would do warm gold or paprika (orangy red) type colors, maybe try looking at the color of drapes they have on www.potterybarn.com I love the dupioni silk drapes they have but you can get those at alot of places in all price ranges, but they come in nice warm tones. You could also do chocolate brown. Look also at http://www.anthropologie.com at the patterned curtain panels they have, multi color with olive green, cream and reds/golds would look great. Hope this helps!

We have a similar great room and have cream sheer-linen panel curtains, with brown/dark tan sheer-linen panels in between the cream panels. We have them hanging kind of loosely over a copper pipe, curtain rod.

God bless!!!
