If this is a 'training' question, Good hygiene helps to prevent skin from forming sore places, such as bed/pressure sores. Elderly people may get small skin tears through the most minor incidents and these can become infected very quickly if they are not cleaned. From the other point of view, a client should should maintain good personal hygiene as carers may feel they do not want to have physical contact with the person if they are dirty or smelly.

Well, like everyone else said, you'll smell bad if you don't. But it's more than that. Your hair will be greasy, your body will be dirty, and you'll probably be more prone to illness or infections. It's important to be presentable nowadays, more than ever before. Can you imagine if you applied for a job, with smelly armpits, scummy teeth, and greasy hair? I doubt you'd get the job!
