It happens on a consistent basis for things that do not require immediate attention, and you ignore their phone calls at work, and they E-MAIL u at work instead, would you find this irritating?

It would be done in such a fashion ... subject line = CALL ME.

You see on your caller ID, that parent has called you numerous times already; you know it is not an emergency since it happens frequently.

On a scale of 1-10 (10 being most annoyed), how annoyed would you be?

I am 32 YEARS OLD; This has been going on for YEARS! I have made it very clear that I don't take personal calls at work, I talk to my parent enough throughout the week, and this sometimes happens when I'm at home as well.

Tell them that your boss has complained to you and that your job is on the line if they keep disturbing you.

Definitely irritating. Although you've made it very clear to your parents that you don't take personal calls at work, you'll have to keep insisting. I'm certain you'd feel wretched if one day it was something very serious, and you didn't know because you chose not to take the call. It's like the story of the "little boy who cried wolf."

Perhaps, since you say that your parents have resorted to e-mails with the subject "Call me" you could encourage your parents to send an e-mail for the non-essentials, with the information they'd like to share. Let them know that you will either respond by e-mail or call when you have the opportunity. At least e-mail isn't as irritating as constant calls, and it will only be evident when checked, not like a ringing phone distracting you during work.

Yes, your parents are making a nuisance of themselves. They should know better than to disturb their child at work. Ignore their calls.

Yes, it is 'annoying' but your parent is probably 'starved for attention' and 'bored' and you might need to consider getting them signed up for 'senior daycare' at a senior center near you, so that your parent won't be so 'bored' and 'annoying' with you.
