Well, they did take the easiest areas to maintain. Do you think that could have helped them.

The Americans were the ones who wanted to take all of the glory and decided to go to the north and gave the south to the British,the Americans knew the British could take the south easily while the Americans have approached the whole thing wrong.The British have done their bit and now they are leaving and yes the British troops are better trained.

British troops are not better trained..
British troops leaving Iraq is not a good sign..
V.P. Cheny is just trying to put a positive spin on their departure.
British troops have been working in Basra which has not been
a trouble spot and they can indeed probably safely leave Bosra.
They need to be moved to Faluja or Bagdad or Mosul or Tikrit
or some place where there is trouble and where they could be
put to use...

I would think that the Prime Minister is giving into the pressure from the British citizens....Hopefully we are getting to the end of this no win situation. All the Allies should back out and let the Iraqi's kill each other.
