Alcohol lowers your inhibitions and there for makes you not afraid. If you are not afraid then you will tell the truth because it is something you have wanted to do but have been afraid to tell because of the consequences

It's the lack of inhibition it causes - You start to lose control of the things you would normally keep in check including not mentioning the truth to people.
