Media Center seems more to me like WebTV than an operating system.

Personally i think Win 2000 was probably the best.
However people liked win 98 as it had DOS built in. It wasn't a resource hog and was small. It didn't have verification so you couldn't get locked out of your legal OS by a MS glitch. It worked and there was a helluva lot of progs for it.
As for MCE. It is just xp with extras. It is hopeless for a media centre due to the boot times. I wouldn't replace my DVD player with it. I would however replace it with a box running geexbox or another fast loading linux MCE. I believe MAC has MCE beat anyway.

Windows 98 is the second best Windows created I believe, but I think XP is better.

Because Windows 98 doesn't have the activation and genuine advantage junk that Microsoft uses to make sure that people pay for their overpriced operating systems.

i'm with drakshug on this one.... win2000 is still a very good, stable, non resource hungry OS that i still use on one of my 4 pc's.

98 is fine for word processing, listening to music, data storage, but not much good with USB devices and they no longer support 98(microsoft)

and yes..... WINXP MCE is quite good
