dixie: it could be said that you've lost a lot if you hypotheticaly lived by the bible you would have never made love before you where married what about the people that you loved before hand but didnt commit your self all the way becuase of your faith there are alot of things you miss out on in life due to your faith (which i respect this is purely a philoshopic question) and what about gluttony or indulgance which are mortal sins by your book wouldnt have been better to live a life full of ice cream sundays everyday if there were none in death? really i can think of countless/harmless things that you miss out on , i understand the shalt not kill and steal and all of the rest but i think those are more of a soicety issue rather than that of just a relegion menaing if we had no relegion this still would not be tolerated due to socital presures
dixie:liked your comment and was meaningful to you thats why i choose to "pick" on you not trying to be mean just spark a good conversation

I do not fear death at all..My faith makes me look forward to the fact that when this body dies my life force continues...And If my faith turned out to be wrong and there was nothing after physical death then I have lost nothing.I simply would no longer exsist...So what do I have to loose? By having faith, I have a lot to gain..All life needs a reason, whats yours?

All human being have a certain amount of fear of death, it would be strange if you didn't. However, I believe in God because of His love toward me. I was young when I started my faith walk, so death was not even a thought in my mind. Now that I am older, it is a comfort to know that when that day comes I go to the Lord.

Well not all since Hindusim and buddhism are all about not fearing death and being reincanted. We are religious because we fear Hell and sin. We dont want to burn a a fiery inferno for all eternity not do we wish to be palgued by our bad decisions in this life so we worship God or Allah or Shiva or whoever.

You got it. Most people who are devoted to a religion don't even realize they are centered and focused mainly on death. Its ironic though, people can be afraid of death, yet looking forward to the after life at the same time. All of which wastes precious time here on earth with your love ones who are still alive.

I am a Christian. I am not religious. I am a follower of Jesus Christ. Jesus is not a religion. He is a personal relationship. I don't fear death because I have that personal relationship and I know that because of Him, I will live eternally in Heaven. However, I would like to live here as long as I can.

I don't think that all people fear death. I do but I believe in a higher power because when I die, I want my soul to be in a better place. I fear that my soul will be in limbo more than I fear death. Good question!

Sometimes.... there are other reasons though. Some people need direction, some desire purpose, some desire answers, and some people were just raised that way... but fear of death is definitely a factor!

I think some are. My Landlord thinks Christ is coming for all the Christians on 7/7/2007. So his main thing is if you dont believe you will be left here on earth which will be the equivalent of hell.

Some people are afraid of nonexistance after death, and some religions offer a life after death.
