My dog has been sneezing every 5 or 10 minutes for the past two days.

I am worried about what the cause is. Any ideas?

It could possibly be a foreign object in the nose. In our area, there is a problem with foxtails, which are a type of grass seed that can get caught in paws, ears and noses. My dogs have picked them up before and the classic symptom is sneezing attacks lasting several minutes.

Take the dog to the vet.

every one here is saying allergies, but there are 2 possible reasons.
no one here has thought that your dog has only been sneezing for 2 days. if you have moved or bought a new plant, ect that could very well be the answer.
however, if nothing has changed much in your house in the past 2-3 days, sneezing can meansomething bad.
heart faliure. dogs sneeze whe they have heart faliure and/or anyother heart diseases. this has a greater perscent chance of being true if your dog is a bigger breed (labrador, great dane, german shepherd, those dogs) and if he is older (above 7 yrs).
but, small dogs arent safe either, they can get it.
i'm not saying that you dog has anything, i'm just telling you what i learned. reconsider the points and possibilites i just told you... if you think heart faliure is an option, see a vet.
but, if you think its allegies, also see a vet.
good luck! :)

Oddly enough, your dog may have simple allergies. With the weather getting warmer all over the US lots of allergies have been flaring up in the last few days. This could also be caused by a new pet addition to the family, or even something like a new brand of room deodorizer or laundry detergent. I've never had a dog with allergies, so I can't say that I know too much about it, but my best advice is to call your vet and see what s/he says. It may even be caused by a new dog food or shampoo. There are many dogs who live with allergies though, so there must be something like the dog equivalent of Claratin that you vet can give you.

Good luck

Allergies, my cat when allergies are at their worst for humans, it is the same with her. She loses all her nose hair and sneezes non-stop. With the rapid weather changes all over the nation it has caused many allergy cycles. Also, if you have your house closed up for the winter the allergens build up in the house as well. Your vet can get you some medications to deal with the allergies. If this is his first set of allergies you can also see if they clear up on his own but it's all up to your personal preference.

Allergies from something in your home, irritant in a cleaning product used on floors, food allergy or a multitude of other problems. Bring him to vet and descibe the sneeze and what areas he sneezes most often in or around.

The dog I used to take care of had allergy problems, just like we do. Take him to the vet and they have a prescription for dogs.

My dog sneezed a lot whenever I need to shampoo my carpet. I think she was allergic to dust mites.

Does she have a greenish discharge coming from his/her nose? My dog was doing this and I took her to the vet and she had kennel cough (Bordatella).
