Catch him doing it and repremand him by making a loud noise and startling him (can of coins). Then redirect him to a sit or lay position. Have the guests only acknowledge him when he's calm, even if it seems a black lab pup is irresistable. If he jumps up on people correct this now, it only gets worse. You can use a leash when people come around and step on it so he can't jump up.

LOL I know it's not funny but I've had Goldens who have gone right thru screen doors and screened sliding doors.

They think it's clear. They can't see the screen. Try putting some decals on the glass door at his eye height. Yes he need to be taught that jumping on the glass door isn't right too.

Spank Him & Then Put Him Back Where He Was Sitting Before He Got Up & Ran Everytime He Does That....& He'll Start Realizing That He's Not Supposed To Do That. When He DOESN'T Do It, Reward Him With A Treat Or Something So He'll Know That He Did The Right Thing Since He Got Something Good For It.

If he's still a puppy, now is the best time for training. I'm taking classes on becoming a certified dog trainer and the best way to rid them of this habit is through reinforcement. Not sure if you have taught your dog to 'sit' yet, but if you have, then you're on your way. I usually use "OFF!" when my dog jumps up either on people or on the door (she still does this at 4 yrs old, but I'm working on her too). Once the dog gets off the door, give him a treat RIGHT AWAY (little treats, bite size...you'll be needing a lot of them). Once it's done multiple times, he'll learn that if he doesn't jump on the glass, he'll get a treat and want to be "good" more often...also use the word "good" when he behaves. Try not to use force, he'll learn to assiciate good words & treats to his good behavior. Good luck!

A dog should be trained on how to eat, walk with you, not to bark, potty training and sleep on its place etc. You can teach anything to your puppy, dogs get trained easily with some good instructions. If you want some good training tips visit https://tr.im/CnfXZ

If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on.

It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.

When training a pup, start with only three (3) basic commands. My first one was no, he would stop whatever he was doing and look at me. Second was down, it also taught him not to jump on people. Two Great starters. You choose a third. Avoid the dumb, meaningless stuff. Like sit pretty, roll-over even catch and fetch, until he learns the three basics. Good Luck.

Can you not just let him inside before you leave? Or, if you have a back porch you can always stop him from entering the back porch so that he can't get to the door.

I had that problem with a german shepherd pup , i just put some gravel in a bottle and shook it everytime he did it (they hate that noise) with a firm NO! , soon stopped it , or another method is you could just chop his legs off , jk
