It happens on a consistent basis for things that do not require immediate attention, and you ignore their phone calls at work, and they E-MAIL u at work instead, would you find this irritating?

It would be done in such a fashion ... subject line = CALL ME.

You see on your caller ID, that parent has called you numerous times already; you know it is not an emergency since it happens frequently.

On a scale of 1-10 (10 being most annoyed), how annoyed would you be?

I am 32 YEARS OLD; This has been going on for YEARS!

Some behaviors create enough pressure that they cause a blow up. It sounds like you need to assert yourself enough to get your parents to understand that you have a life, and can't be at their beck and call. It seems to me a bit of a blow up is in order. You should not be expected to stop work to just chat.

I am sorry to hear this is happening. Trying to put myself in your situation I think I would first talk to them about it, try to convince them to contact me say once or twice per day with all the concerns/things they want to talk about. I think I would also point out how I am at work and have responsibilities that I have to take care of and cannot call her all the time.

Oh, and to answer your question I would be very annoyed if it were happening to me. Perhaps you can call her once in the morning or once in the evening to talk about things, and no other time, and perhaps she will get the idea that you are available to speak during those times but not really any others.

I wish you luck with this, I know it is a difficult place to be in.

I'm 27, and my mother-in-law does this. She loves to chat...about anything and everything. Depending on how busy I am, I get annoyed up to an 8. Usually it hovers around a 3.

Just tell your folks that you can't commit much time to personal calls at work, and ask them to stop. Make sure that you take some time out of your day (or week) to keep in touch, and this should end.

At 32 I'd have to say it's a 10. Although it shows your family really loves you it kind of makes them sound a little crazy.

Years!! And you haven't talked to him/her yet?? Why not?

You need to sit down with Mom (it's almost always Mom) and tell her she cannot continue to interrupt you while you are at work. If she has a real need and has access to e-mail, she can send you a message.

Let her know you appreciate the fact that she wants to keep you involved with her life. However...

My annoyance would hit number 10 plus some and to the point where I would put a stop to this.
