This doesn't sound normal, he should be recovering by now. I would take him back to the vet (maybe a different vet as this one didn't even give him pain meds)

If your pet is still in pain 6 days after surgery there is a problem!
The incision area definitely shouldn't be yellowish - sounds infected (has he been licking?)
The surgery for a male dog is no where as painful as it is for a female, and many vets will only give a day or two worth of pain meds for males, if they even give any at all (most don;t need them).
Please call your vet and get him seen as soon as possible, don't wait any longer than you already have!

Alot of veterinarians do not issue pain killers to their patients because if they feel good they will run around and possibly hurt themselves more by pulling the recent surgery spot. Upon request sometimes the vet will offer pain killers for an animal that complains more than usual. The main question to ask yourself is "Is he eating, drinking and acting normaly?" In your case he is not acting normaly five days later. If it has changed color or the incision looks like it has separated and your pup is not getting back to normal call your vetrinarian. I worked at an animal hospital for two years in surgery and signs like that may mean that an infection is on its way. It is better to catch it sooner than later. A simple antibiotic may be the answer.

There are a lot of vets who don't send home pain meds because the pain is only moderate and the theory is that if a dog is in a bit of pain, he takes it easy which is what you want right now. Your vet should have given you the option, though. After 6days you won't be able to see healing. If it's starting to get infected it would look swollen and puffy with a red color. However, he should not still be in pain - I think you need to call your vet.

Take him back to the vet! It should have looked like it was healing by Day 3. I would expect there is an infection going on.

Oh no, something is terribly wrong. My dog was back to normal after one day granted a little sore but basically normal (he was 3 years old at the time). My cat was back to normal after a few hours(6 months old if that). Animals have a high tolerance for pain and if he is crying that bad you better bring him back. Something is WRONG, please, please, bring him in NOW! No vet sends home pain meds for that. It should have been a smooth recovery. I wouldn't disagree taking him to a different vet though. Has the vet even called? Mine calles 3 days after the procedure and a week after that to check up.

Your dog has an infection. The vet will prescribe antibiotics and will probably ask you to clean the incision with peroxide a few times a day.

i'm sorry to pay attention of your loss! whilst you're no longer likely to reproduce the dogs, you need to have him neutered. it won't harm him, make him stay a short existence or something like that. The surgical treatment is incredibly fairly elementary, under a teaspoon of blood is lost, and in simple terms takes approximately 15 minutes (I in simple terms watched my Irish Setter be neutered final week). some vets desire to attend till 10 to 3 hundred and sixty 5 days of age to neuter. the reason of it fairly is that it provides the male dogs extra time do improve their hip (lower back end) section. they have an inclination to look "much less girlie" from in the back of - in spite of no longer having their male areas. communicate on your vet as to whilst they like to neuter a dogs. i think of your dad in simple terms has themes with the belief-approximately having areas bumped off. Ask your dad if it fairly is okay to spay a woman dogs. it's going to be fit on your dogs - it is going to cut back his hazard of numerous cancers. Snip away my chum.

If the dog is in pain and the incision site is not healing properly, he could very well have an ifection. You need to get him back to his vet as soon as possible.
