I recently had a firearm stolen from me and need the serial number to locate it. I have tried basic questions on yahoos search engine without any luck.

You would have to go back to the manufacturer or the reseller who sold you the firearm.

Considering I saw this in the Canadian Questions portion, I'll give you a Canadian-specific answer.

If the weapon was legit, it should have been registered if you've had it for a while. As such, your local cop shop or RCMP station would or should have access to the national firearms registry and be able to find it for you.

No, you are supposed to write the serial number down in case something like this happens. Try contacting th manufacturer, but I am not sure that will even help.

go back to the place or person you bought it from, they should have the serial number in their sales records.

If you bought it from a dealer fairly recently, they shoould have a record of the sale. That's about your only chance.

use coarse sandpaper, and 'wax on , wax off'
