I've been on Lithium for a month and still have the shakes. When will they go away?

Hi. I have been on lithium for along time. I still sometimes get the shakes, mostly when I extend my arms.

A couple of things you can do:

1) Ask your doctor about lowering your dose. Sometimes just dropping it 1/2 of a pill will make that go away.

2) Take your lithium with food.

3) Drink LOTS of water.

Persaonally, I suggest waiting another 2 weeks. If they are not gone by then, talk to your doctor.

My wife was on lithium for several years and she always had the shakes. You have to really watch out for dehydration, cause that makes it worse.

Lithium never goes away - it rots your brain, if you use it long enough
