Is it possible that she could actually be "humping" her pillow, or other objects? My daughter has seen her do this a couple of times, so it hasn't become an everyday ordeal yet. We had a yellow female lab for 13 years who never did this, so I'm not sure how I should handle this, or if that is even what she is doing. Any suggestions?

Yes, females hump. Humping (male or female) is 99% dominance related or excitement (non sexual). Since the pup is young, I would think it's just play/excitement. But it is common for female dogs to hump for dominance reasons when they are old. Keep an eye on the pup and if she humps a person, just tell her NO and make sure she sees you as the leader of the pack.

it's a puppy thing.don't worry she will grow out of it, it's just a stage she is going through.all puppies do it male and female.
