It's not Ribes for sure. I think the plant you are looking for is the Miracle Berry and the scientific name is Synsepalum dulcificum. There is a lovely write-up on Wikipedia...

The botanical name of this plant is Persicaria capiata, also known as polygonum capitatum. The picture in my garden ref. book is identical.
