There are very few dogs that do not shed and are hypoanellergic.
Even though they need to be brushed. No shedding = matting.
Do some research. Big dogs do need a nice fenced in yard. Small dogs do not need a lot of exercise.
Do a personality match, there used to be one on aol, try the AKA site also.

Do not be lazy about researching this before you get a pet. You will be making a 7-14 year committment to it.

If you cannot do that, don't bother getting any pet. They all need and deserve attention; the're not toys you can set aside and grow bored with.

You have to know whether you are allergic to dogs or not and how serious it is. I have very serious allergies but dogs are not a problem for me so any dog will do. If you are allergic to dogs and it's serious, you should not get any dog at all. Keep in mind that all dogs, even so called 'hypo allergenic' dogs are not allergy free.
Also, if you're not interested in walking your dog, no dog would be an excellent choice. All dogs need to walk and should be walked daily or exercised in some manner. If you're too lazy then goldfish would be a better choice.

Surprisingly enough, you may want a giant breed. They are generally less energetic than med-sized breeds. Do you have a yard for the dog to relieve itself in? If not, you will have to take several walks a day so the dog can use the restroom, and you may want to choose a different pet. If you can handle a 30 min. stroll around the neighborhood daily, a Great Dane or Greyhound may work well. You could also try some of the smaller terriers, like the Min. Pincher or Min. Schnauzer, but they will be very energetic inside the house and may require more than you are willing to give. All dogs need to get out of the house daily, so if you don't want to walk at all you shouldn't get one. But some breeds are okay with shorter walks, so you don't have to be a jogger to get a dog!

If you're not going to walk it or clean up after it, why bother. Why do you need a dog? It's pretty selfish to get a dog to suit your needs and do nothing to suit it's needs.

All dogs shed some, so your allergies will not be less with a short haired dog.

Do some research on breeds. Dogs that do not shed are usually good, they have hair, not fur. My kids have allergies and I have a Lhasa Apso, very good house dog, he likes to go for walks but is content playing with is toys and cuddling up with me on the couch. Bull dogs are very lazy dogs but they shed. Good luck to you, dogs are wonderful, loving companions.

i'm sorry to say this,
but you're going to have to go with a low-shedding dog, otherwise you'll be miserable.
Miniature Poodles and Schnauzers are known to be hypoallergenic.
Poodles aren't really 'sissy' dogs if you think about it, the Standard Poodle is rated the best guard dog around, they're also common biters(which isn't a good thing, but its definitely not sissy).

If you are lazy you probably shouldn't have a dog. They need walks, excercise, socialization and you need to keep your yard clean for them to remain happy and healthy.

Maybe some fish? You could watch them from the couch and only need to clean the tank every month or so.

All dogs need attention. All dogs need play and walks. Only dead dog don't need anything. If you start off with this mind frame, I suggest you get a soft toy dog or a rubber dog.

preferably no dog at all because dogs with or without hair need exercise and looking after properly, don't know what allergies you got but forget getting a dog
