The Bible says that Jesus will return "as a thief in the night," meaning that He will come when no one expects Him. The Bible also says that Christ does not know when He is coming back, only God the Father knows the hour and the day of Christ's return.
As for Judgment day, it does take place sometime after the return of Christ. At that time every person on earth will be called to account for their actions. The Bible says that "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God...(1)" meaning that we don't stand a chance against the holiness of God. The only way that we can be saved is by acceptance of His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus died on a cross, after living a perfect life, so that we could be saved. He is the only person who has ever lived without sin. If you accept Him as your Lord and Savior, His blood covers over your sins and you will be forgiven. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.(2)"
One thing is for sure, you don't want to be found without Him when He does return!

The prophecies state that he will return to take Kingship over the Earth, ruling God's Kingdom and that the end result will be the destruction of all wickedness.
Judgment Day is a part of this, as is Armageddon.

The book of Revelation is dedicated to the prophesy of the return of Jesus.
He will apparently have a different appearance. His hair will be white, he'll be so angry that his eyes will be fiery, his feet will be brass-like, and he won't have a clue of how to hold a sword.
Revelation
1:14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow and his eyes were as a flame of fire.
1:15 And his feet like unto fine brass.
1:16 Out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword
