How much? Are you literally standing in front of the water cooler drinking cup after cup even though you havent lost water through sweat or urniation? If so, it may be a first sign of (sorry to say) diabetes. Your body can get rid of the excess sugar in your blood and tries to get rid of it by water. Go get a blood test.

Drinking too much water can lead to hypernatremia, which can be fatal. But you'd have to drink a hell of a lot, fast, to get this condition. Most of the fatalities through taking ecstasy have been through drinking too much water rather than a dodgy pill.

Water and pregnancy

Adequate water consumption is essential during pregnancy, for both mother and foetus. Water helps prevent constipation, bladder and urinary tract infections, and is essential for replacing the constant leaks of amniotic fluid. Water is also essential for good milk production for breastfeeding mothers

Water and your skin

Human skin consists of 70 per cent of water. We lose a portion of our body’s water everyday by evaporation through the skin. The environment in which we live, with climate controlled heating and air-conditioning, low humidity, soap and cleansers, can damage the outer layer of the skin and reduce its ability to hold moisture. When you are not drinking enough to compensate for the body’s water loss, your skin feels dry; moisturizers can treat the symptoms, however the best solution is to reach for a glass of water and moisturize from the inside.

Water and your lungs

Your body needs water to breathe. The average person looses between half to one litre of water per day just by breathing. The lungs consist of 80 per cent of water. In order to take in oxygen and eliminate carbon dioxide, our lungs must be continually moistened with water. Dehydration can make breathing more difficult.

Water and your blood

Your blood is 95 per cent of water, which is water carries the essential nutrients to the cells in your body and removes waste from the cells. If you are dehydrated the body’s mechanisms that regulate blood pressure will not function properly, which may cause an increase in blood pressure.

Water and your kidneys

The kidneys are made up of 80 per cent of water. Their function is to remove waste products from the body, which are dissolved in water. When the body does not have enough water the waste products are not removed effectively, which can cause damage to the kidneys. The National Kidney Research Foundation recommends that drinking 2 litres of water a day can help reduce the risk of kidney stones.

Water and your bones

Our bones consist of approximately 22 per cent of water. It is also water that ensures the smooth movement of bone joints.
The cartilaginous tissue at the end of the bones retains water to lubricate the movement of your joints. When well hydrated the two opposing surfaces slide smoothly; if dehydrated, the damage from friction increases, causing deterioration of the joints and leading to pain, such as arthritis.

So no it isn't bad
