Why is public and even some private school lunches so bad for you and have little good taste! I would rather have a very healthy and nutritious then flavorfull and with no nutritional value!

Because schools are on a budget so thier suppliers give them the cheapest food they can. Some schools get funds from companies like Pepsi to sell thier soda and thier Dorito chips. Its basically another example where money is more important than people's health.

The criticisms are too much fat, salt, and sugar. Not enough fruit, vegetables and fiber.

because flavorful and healthy lunches cost more than gross yucky school lunches.
and if you buy a subway sandwich at your school, it'll cost MORE than if you bought it at subway.
