I lost weight without even eating less by just walking an hour a day. This worked whether I walked for 30 minutes twice a day, or 60 minutes once a day. Cut out unnecessary food (junk food, for example), and you should lose weight faster.

I have been fighting with my weight for a long time. Two things I have found that really work are 1... watch what you eat. That does NOT mean counting calories or doing without a certain type of food, because your body will begin craving that food. Just cut back on portions and drink ALOT of water. The second thing is walk...walk around your block,up and down the street,up and down the stairs of your apartment if you live in one, where ever you can.
Another way is to change the way you cook foods. Bake or broil...fried foods every now and then are ok but not on a regular basis. Use less butter and salt, and try to gradually switch to low fat things like milk and sour cream and stuff like that. I'm not saying you can never enjoy the fried things or any butter and salt...heck every now and then I will sit and enjoy a full pint of ice cream...but it has to be in moderation. If you are eating right and are active and still not losing weight, then you might want to talk to your doctor about other ideas,or your body might be at it's own ideal weight,no matter what you want. Good luck!!

It ain't easy. Discipline is the answer. You simply must burn more calories each day than you take in. But, of course, that isn't easy. One thing I know for sure...you won't succeed without exercise. Exercise not only burns calories, while you are exercising, but it also raises your metabolism and that really helps you lose weight. If you are not into running, swimming, biking, weight lifting, etc. Try walking, yard work, garden work, or yoga. But, all the exercise in the world won't help if you don't get your eating under control. Try the South Beach diet. It is very common sense and pretty easy to stay on. In fact, it can really become a way of eating for the rest of your life. Good Luck.

I was 5'1 and 142 lbs I am now still 5'1 but 115 lbs. I did a combination of exercise and dieting. I made a food log everyday seeing what I was eating and comparing it to what I needed to be eating. I started doing cardio workouts and CORE secrets. Cardio helps to burn fat while dieting helps to regulate daily intake. I suggest you start a food log without making any changes first to see what you are eating now that is making you gain weight. Then start to cut back on the fatty and sugary things. Basically, it's what doctors and health magazines have told the public all along. There is no magic pill, just motivation to want to loose the weight.

Hey, you're the same height as me!
You need a good combination of diet and exercise. Making gradual changes can make a big difference. If you try to do everything at once you'll feel like it's too difficult and become overwhelmed.
I would suggest focusing on healthier eating habits at first, then gradually adding in exercise. Weight Watchers is a great diet!

exercise at least 20 minutes a day and limit your calorie intake to 1000 a day. I have been doing that since Feb. 1, 2007 and have lost 6 pounds already. goodluck!
