That's a really hard one. Great Danes are subject to "happy tail" too, and I've know several who had to have the end of the tail amputated because they kept reinjuring it, so it couldn't heal.

Ask around some dog trainers for ideas.

You can cut an old sock and run it up her tail to the area where it normally smacks the table legs,or walls. It will offer some protection, and give the area a chance to heal. At least it is injuring itself being happy! I had a lab that did that too,his whole rearend would just go crazy. I had a guy tell me once that dogs do not have emotions, thus they cannot show emotion. That guy was full of crap, look at your dog and tell me he isn't showing emotion! Good luck.

Fill a sock with pillowy stuff so it's really fat and put the sock on make sure the sock is so big that it nearly covers it all. Although it may look strange it might help. As far as the bathroom goes (though most people don't think about it) slip the sock off moniter it and after it goes put the sock back on. Hope I helped! :-)

That is a really difficult one, because the tail is so hard to bandage. I've known dogs that had to have their tails amputated because they would not stop injuring it.

You need to consult with your vet on this one.....
