Hey, Ray, that's cold. English is not my native language and yet somehow I manage to spell atheist correctly. I'm sorry I don't live up to your ideals of great prose.

Also, you should know how many times I spell it "Christain" but somehow I magically (miraculously?) manage to find that spell check button.

Here's my theory: they're not used to thinking in such generic terms as 'deity' or 'theist' because to them, God is God, whereas a 'deity' is a mythological figure. It's not as personal. It's rational and removed. So they aren't used to thinking of the word, and fall prey to the confusion of the complexity of the i before e rule due to lack of familiarity with the root words.

No- it is an odd question because atheist comes from a word, theist , that actually means believing in God. the "a" at the begin actually stands for absence of belief in God.
So a Christian is a Theist.
A non-christian is an atheist.
Hence the correlation is that we, theists, should know how to spell atheist.

*sigh* Nothing better to do I see. More Christian bashing...woohoo :-/
Stop looking for support from fellow lemmings here at Yahoo Answers and give http://www.bible.org a visit and see how dumb Christians are. Seeking out grammatical errors or typos in peoples posts is childish and a sissified way of avoiding debate.

They don't understand what it means to be an Atheist more often then the spelling. To be fair..... I am an Atheist who has poor grammar and spelling. At least I read a lot.

Aren't you proof enough of the hot non-believer theory? If more proof is needed, we can always grab some non-believing ladies, form a line and scientifically test the validity. Is wifey gonna be away anytime soon? Ohhh, I kid, I kid. That was bad and wrong. Bad-ong.

Actually, there is. I'm sure you're familiar with the fact that Christians are brainwashed from a young age, and fundamentalists don't let their children study too much, because they don't need so much knowledge, because this would eventually lead to their doubting the existence of the Christian God. So... there you have it.

There is also evidence to suggest that believing in a Christian God prevents one from being capable of writing "atheists," the plural of "atheist."

No. Some of us just can't spell. A few of us are dyslexics. I make liberal use of the Spell Check.
