Alright this is for my intro to electrical and computer engineering class in U1. I remember it being quite simple, but I just can't seem to figure out how to simplify these into 1 branch?

Wait... wouldn't it be product over sum? so 6?

24 x 8 192
--------- = --------- = 6?
24 + 8 32

Yes, product-over-sum.

I always have trouble remembering whether it is product-over-sum or sum-over-product, so I just remember that A||A = 1/2 A... then I check to see which way makes it work out to that, heh.

Got a scientific calculator? Press 8[1/x]+24[1/x]=[1/x]
[1/x] is the reciprocal button and may be identified as
[x^-1] (x to the -1)
You can use a non-scientific as follows

Hang on.... Let me get out an 8ohm and a 24ohm.

Now put them in parallel.

Where's my darn ohmmeter? Got it!

6ohm.

1/8Ω + 1/24Ω = 1/R
3/24Ω + 1/24Ω = 4/24Ω = 1/6Ω
So 8Ω||24Ω = 6Ω
