Do churches still use collection plates?
hmmm, my church just collects tithes and offerings through individually sealed envelopes handed directly to a congregational leader. I think it keeps things a little more private between the giver and the Lord.

some do not use collection plates.... but all churches have bills to pay... so some means of raising funds is required... most rely solely on voluntary donations collected in various ways.... The plate is just one way.
unfortunatly... not all have God in common as mentioned in answer above
