I think that the majority of common religions in today's world are all in fact praying to the same god. They just have different interpretations of how that god wants them to behave. Guess who made up those interpretations, man. So aren't people just following the principles of man and not a god? In precipitation of your comment that the men who created these principles were godly men and thus the principles are coming from god indirectly, it is still not a direct source. Peoples' whole religion would thus be based on whether or not these people were being completely truthful when saying that god spoke to them.

Acid: Please feel free to point out how the Christian God, Jewish God, and Islamic God are mutually exclusive? Your ignorance is astounding.
To everyone else, saying there is only one God is not an argument and proves nothing.

pray to my God through my savior Jesus Christ. He said He was the only way to the Father. I don't pray to Mohammed or Hindu dude or whatever...those are fake me out religions and if you did some research you could figure that out easily
Drewby are you saying you worship jesus and god? I thought your religion only had one god? If YOU did some research you would realise that muslims worship mohammed much in the same way as you worship Jesus. In that respect, their god or "allah" (which means god in English) is the same god as in christianity. I'm beginning to notice a trend of ignorance in all the hardcore christians in y/a. Open your minds people.

I believe that all religions are based on the same energy/diety. Each religion is like a piece of stained glass. The believer looks through the glass and sees the parts they can see through their square. Someone else will look through their square and see what their belief says should be there.
When you draw back, and see Diety as a whole, it's a beautiful patchwork of colored glass.

God Himself says there are other gods, though one doubts that His interpretation is the same as ours would be. And, no doubt that what we know of the various gods has been interpreted to us by men, who are so-not-perfect, or even good listeners.
I believe that there is only one I AM, and that He is the only God, and thus the only one who truly matters--the Creator God. Though the descriptions and appelations vary, there cannot be more than one, at least so logic would argue. Else we'd have a whole lot more chaos than order.
The Creator, however, is well able to make His nature clear to those who are truly interested, and indeed, have given us each a fair respresentation thereof as a sort of internal yardstick. That man has, through the millenia, tinkered with that endo-measure toward his own ends, is not God's fault or problem but ours. Nor is it insuperable, because if you have questions, you can always check back with the Source. Only hitch is, you have to be willing to hear the answer.
And that's man's biggest difficulty with divinity--he's too busy trying to make himself into a god to listen to the real one.

I believe this completely and answered a similiar question with this theory. Religion is man made. God is not. It is said in the Bible that the words are written by divine inspiration from God. The problem I see is that it is written in another language so when translated in every language by that language's linguists they have interpretted it in there own way hence giving different "religions" serving the same God. The English versions are considered to be the most accurate and literal in their translation.
I am talking all different groups that worship a God. Oh I do believe in divine inspiration.

Well i believe there is only one true god. I don't believe in three in one thing I hear from the churches which doesn't seem to make sense at all.
I also think you have a point and have it pretty close. That is: maybe all the different ones are praying to the same god, but is it god almighty or the god of this system of things, which is where I think people are missing the real thing. But it's just my opinion.

In the view of many ( not my own ) Anything can be a god for anyone. But in my view there is only one god , the creator of all the heavens and the earth. The same god that sent his son Jesus Christ to die for our sins, so we can have eternal life in heaven.

Islam, Judaism and Christianity are all monotheistic religions, which suggests that, yes, a number of people think that maybe there is only one god.

I wonder if enough people consider the possibility that the concept of a "god" is an impossible one.
