Depends but for a good one at least 35, there are many options at that price and up starting with the most popular but not the best Patron... I you want something really special get some Casa Noble, it is wonderful...
"All made from 100% Blue Agave
Casa Noble ultra premium tequilas begin as carefully selected individual 10 year old plants of Blue Agave. Each one must meet the strict requirements for water and sugar content. We slow-cook them for 38 hours in stone ovens.
Then, using only the core and hearts of the agaves, we extract their robust juice. The fermentation process is 100% natural, followed by a triple distillation. The result is a tequila so pure and full of agave flavor that it has elevated the concept of tequila to new levels around the world.
Casa Noble Tequila Produced and Bottled in Mexico. 40% Alc/Vol (80 Proof). 100% Blue Agave."

It's very difficult to answer that ??? being you haven't been specific as to WHICH KIND OF TEQUILA you are trying to buy. Just like anything else, the name, the age, the quality, etc, will determine the price ... Obviously I won't recommend a cheap disgusting tequila, but if you want quality w/o paying a terriblly high price, Cazadores is a really good tequila for about $30, same w/ Don Julio. If you want really good stuff, still at a pretty good price, Sauza Tres Generaciones Anejo is fantastic ... and if he's a Jose Cuervo lover (which I think is gross, if you buy it in stores, cause it's so cheap) - they have their Cuervo Tequila Familia Reserve which is tasty, but it's about $104. Hope he likes what you get him.

Tequila around me (probably close to your prices) ranges from $10 for 750mL cheap stuff to over $50 for the fancy stuff from cabo wabo for $30 you could probably get 2 bottles of Jose Cuervo, if you can find it on sale, which is kinda mid-quality.

Depends on the tequila- there are some awful ones you can get cheap, but I would spend a little more for a better quality.

You can go cheap, like the stuff in a plastic container or probably up to $70 for the best. My personal favorite is Cabo Wabo.
