the most common cause of stinky breath comes from the other end of the dog..anal sacs.
check his anal sacs to see if they need emptied. the impacted anal sac causes something similar to tonsillitis in humans, which causes a rotten breath..
If anal sacs are OK, then it may be his digestion being inefficient..Try adding a spoon of plain yogurt to his meals to aid in complete digestion.
Also, concerning dental health..feel along the gum line from the outside of the face, and see if you feel any lumps that may indicate an abcess.

You still might want to check with the vet. Tartar builds up under the gum line and that is how gingivitis starts. So it is possible for her to have white, clean looking teach but still have an infection of tartar going on. Other than that just but some dog safe toothpaste. They come in different flavors and avoid mint and peppermint flavors. Dog's don't like mint. Get peanut butter, chicken, or beef. Get a dogie toothbrush or finger toothbrush and start slow with her so she can get used to it. You can buy this stuff at PetSmart and they have a whole dental section.

Your dog is hetting older and naturally there teeth are they tend to start to rot abit as they dont go to the dentist like us!!!
Do you feed him on tinned meat or dry food!!! Ive noticed most dogs that live on tinned meat tend to have smelly breath !
Dry food I find is better no meat caught between the teeth to rot and also dry foor as they chew it the hardness naturally tends to clean the teeth!!! Try using those chews that are used on a daily breath to keep clean and break down tartar , there very good!!!
Well good luck I hope that helps!!

Worms could cause this,i suggest multi wormer from a local pet store, look for signs in the feaces and has the dog started consuming alot of food or swollen abdomen.
if none of these, check your dogs teeth for decay.
also you can obtain bad breath capsules or pills from again your local store, good luck hope this helps.

main reasons for smelly breath are bad teeth or digestive system.
with the teeth it may well be something that just isn't visable, and same of course with the digestive system.
best to take it to the vets just to get it checked out, it may be the early signs of something else.

If you take your dog to the vet dentist once a year and brush it's teeth regularly your dogs breath will always smell like puppy breath.

it could be that he has an absess in his mouth, or maybe tartar on his back teeth, in any case you should take him for a check up to your vets, i checked my dogs teeth regularly but he still had an abssess that i could,nt see, and after removal of a few teeth and a course of anti biotics he was fine. good luck x

"doggy breath" over 80% of all pets over the age of two suffering from dental disease, there is no wonder why. This may be seen as tartar, gingivitis, halitosis (bad breath) and periodontal disease, which may lead to tooth loss.
