Truely through cheaptickets, I am a travel agent and I can't get very good deals on just tickets alone, besides if it is in a hotel package, than it is cheaper for airline tickets. I just booked a Hilton Hawaii package for two people with airline tickets, seven nights oceanview room (w/balcony), transfers and everything included besides food, for $3,000. Air on it's own was $800 per person in November. But with the package it made the air $600 per person.

Expedia and Travelocity aren't any cheaper than going through the airlines directly -- believe me, I checked on flights from Detroit to Honolulu and found no difference. You're always better off trying to get a package deal that includes airfare and hotel stay or other goodies. For example, my wife and I got a GREAT deal on a 7-day Hawaii cruise that included round trip airfare from Detroit -- we got an oceanview room with the package and paid a grand total of $2,600.00, and the best airfare I could find was $800.00 per person round trip. So a 7-day Hawaii cruise for two people ended up costing $1,000.00. Not bad, huh? P.S.: Travel agents can get the best deals if you're not picky about exact dates for your vacation.
