Will a single government ever be able to make the world a better place if religion is always the factor people are unwilling to compromise on?

How many centuries has religion delayed our grown already?

I have to disagree with you on this. Religion is not the only factor that has held us back. People get complacent in what the know or are comfortable with and resist change. Many atheists blame religion for holding science back, but science itself has often held itself back. At other times governments, and other interests have held science back.

On the other hand, while we respect each person's freedom to belief as they choose, we need to make laws that are not designed to enforce a given morality.

During the Middle Ages, those countries that accepted the Inquisition were way more delayed in growth than those that abolished it long before. France was the country that first emerged during the Renaissance as a new nation. Italy and others also started to appreciate the arts, architecture, science, etc. While those countries that still had the Inquisition, witch hunts, supertisition, etc, were undeveloped compared to those that had joined the Renaissance movement.

A single government would be a terrible thing. The US government is already too much out of the hands of the people it governs, largely because it tries to govern too many. A world government is incompatible with individual rights and freedom; and if you don't have that, you have nothing.

This sounds like you are in favor of 'the New World Order'.
Bull. That way will only make slaves of us all.
A single governing body on this planet is the second worst thing that could happen to humanity.

Yes, but not a human government.

Isaiah 9:6, 7 - For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

Daniel 2:44 - And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

If everyone practiced true Christianity, we would see what we read about in Isaiah 2:2-4 -- And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

This is already practiced by Jehovah's Witnesses globally. We have proven that true religion is a unifying factor, regardless of one's ethnic, social, economic, or national background.

incredibly i think of it fairly is the corporation of power this is extra divisive than the rest. think of approximately maximum international locations? what proportion wars have been waged through fact one team replaced into extra useful than yet another team? Or one team of human beings replaced into in poverty through oppression of yet another team? enable's positioned the blame the place it fairly belongs. no longer on God, yet on the reality that human beings are self-in seek of. in case you look on the coaching in the bible, you will see that a guy or woman who's following after God's heart does no longer seek for self-glory or egocentric potential. And from what I comprehend, maximum religions whilst practiced of their maximum suitable kind are no longer approximately egocentric motivations. What occurs is that folk corrupt those teachings or use faith through fact the excuse in charge for the ills in society. So, the corporation of power is what corrupts society. And egocentric ambition isn't unique to any relgion. it fairly is unique to human nature.

Never. Religion should never be allowed a say in gvt. The fact that the US is moving toward religion and is the most powerful nation in the world is very scarey.

It will. The unified gvt will bring about a short period of peace and then all hell will break loose - way worse than you can imagine.
