best to get it done professionally then. You don't sound like you know what you are doing and you're likely to wind up damaging your hair

Do you have a Sally's beauty supply near you ? If so, so & get the L'Oreal ColorZap Haircolor Remover. You need to remover the darker shade you just put in b/c you will not be able to lighten it with color alone. I have used this product a few times before & it works great ! Plus, it does not contain any bleach, so, it will not hurt your hair :) . While you are there, pick up some color that you like (it's cheaper to get at a beauty supply store than a drug store.....just don't forget to get the developer as well). I have been coloring my hair for awhile now, &, cannot afford to go to a professional, but, the Beauty Supply store is the next best thing ! ( plus, if is doesn't come out how you wanted it to, you didn't waste a whole lot of $$ on it)

Try a product called "Sun-In". It is very light on your hair and does not cause damage. As you spray it in your hair will become lighter after being in the sun or if you sit under a heated blow dryer. It is mostly for blonds, but you can find it for brunettes if you go to Wal-Mart or Target. It is not very expensive (the most $3) and it is very effective.

May your hair come out even more beatuiful!

nothing wrong with store bought lightener you have to know how to use it and for how long it takes a couple of mess ups. next time try using a little speed lightener or powered bleach it is also store bought. be careful not to over process your hair by dying it so close together.

is the dark brown your natural hair color? if its dyed, you need to strip your hair in order to lighten it, which could be very harmful to your hair.

over the counter highlighting kits are not that great. it is very easy to burn your hair if you leave it on for too long. i would really suggest going to a hair salon and getting it done professionally. you wouldn't want to end up with patches of burned, or missing hair.

good luck

If you wash your hair several times, the color will wash out. Give it two weeks, then see your stylist. You don't want to ruin the beautiful hair you have.
