Don't know where you are, in Canada try Penningtons or Laura Plus. I would think Laine Bryant , Sears, JC Penny's Walmart or Macy's might actually have larger sizes as well.
Why not have granny wear a simple coat dress, sheath with a matching jacket. Or even an elegant pant suit with a elongated jacket.
Older women don't need gowns per se. It does depend on how large Gramma is ,although many places have outfits going into size 28. nowadays.

Sears is excellent for pretty, low cost dresses for seniors, and they come in a very vast range of sizes and colors. Before you go, check out the sears website to see if they have anything you like. Otherwise, JC Penny is great, as is Lane Bryant.

For a vow renewal, grandma doesn't have to wear a wedding dress!!!!!
A light colored two piece suit would do just fine. It's age appropiate and adequate to the type of celebration.
Good luck

Do you know someone who can make her a dress? My mom had this same problem and it ended up being the best solution. She wore the dress she had made for several occasions, so it was worth the money.
It frustrates me that there aren't more options for heavy women. My mom has always struggled with finding clothes and what you do find is often ugly or poorly made.

Lane Bryant caters to very large women and they have some very pretty clothes. I know their stuff goes up to 5X and maybe some 6X.
Walmart goes as high as 3X but those clothes run a bit on the small end of 3 X. 26-28 is their largest size.
Good luck and congrats on your grandparents vows.

Don't go out of your way to dress her to the 9s if she isn't going to be comfortable. There are plenty of plus-size sites on the web where you can buy things at very reasonable prices. Don't panic and take some time to shop on-line. Congratulations to your grandparents!!!

Love Lane Bryant-- they have a Bridal Boutique online now. Cute dresses, I'd even wear them for other occassions.
