Ok, me and my husband are currently TTC. It was really easy for us to pick a boy's name, BUT a girl's name has been an entirely different story!!! I like different names like Audra, Alexa, Darrah, Adaira, and LaKate ( I wanted to use it as a middle name. My middle name is LeChae and My mom's is Lucretia so I kinda wanted something around those lines!!) But yet NO to all of those. So I then tried some more traditional names: Jessa, Rebecca (Becca), Carlee, Anna Faith (Faith). Yet again, NO to all of those. The only name he likes is Anna Marie and it is to common for me. I like it, but I want a more unique name for my lil' girl.

I have a family name and it sort of sounds like you do too! I would express it as something very mandatory in your family and that would me to have a middle name with the letter L. Your daughter can choose which ever name she wants to go by. My mother chose to go by something that isn't related to any part of her name at all! Why not compromise? Anne Marie LaKate and then your last name. It makes him happy and you happy at the same time. Besides, your the one giving birth, yes he may have input and the more the better but in all fairness you decide what goes on the birth certificate.

I will tell you what my husband and I did. We went out, bought a baby book, and then found a way to compromise.

We both wanted something unique, easy for saying (no chance of mispronunciation), and something that sounded good with our last name. We came to the name Jordyn Ann. I always liked the name of "Jordan" for a girl, but he thought it too boyish. When we found the spelling with the "y", I won him over, and allowed him to decide the middle name. He chose Ann, and I didn't object. I think the name is rather nice, and it is easy.

Look through the book and set the limit on the 10 best names for each of you. Then compare the results, with you both keeping the names from your list that the other likes. And tell him he HAS to pick 10 names. Or maybe agreeing on using Marie as the middle name (or use Ann Marie as the middle name), with the first name something more along the lines of what you desire.

Maybe ask him what makes that name so special to him. It might be the name of someone important to him somehow, or a name that is somewhere in the family. But I think working together will resolve this issue.

isnt it strange, my husband and I had the same problems.... the boy name we decided on almost immediately... it has not changed since... but the girl name has been such a dilemma. He wanted Kaley Ann. ? I like the name Kaley, but Ann? NO... not to mention that every female in his family has the middle name of ANN. lol oh yea... his mom and all 3 of his siters all ann's.

I would suggest getting a baby name book and just go through it together.... point out what you like and have him go throug hand point out what you like... eventually you will come to a conclusion. ALSO, try to "assign" the first name and the middle name since you are adament about the middle name... tell him he can pick the first name...

Maybe Anne LaKate??? That is pretty.... Good Luck, and don't let it stress you out.. you need to be stress free as you are trying to conceive...

Its a hard decision to make. Have you tried going though lists of baby names and writing ones down that you both agree on. Or maybe have it where you pick the fisrt name and he picks the second name or vice versa.
